The Logo Company has been in business on the Web since 2000, and is based in Brooklyn, New York. The site does not mention the size of the company, or how many designers work there (in-house or otherwise). It claims “thousands of satisfied clients” and features over 2500 testimonials on its web site. The Logo Company seems targeted at serving the small business, and in fact its home page contains a letter describing its services beginning “Dear Entrepreneur,”.

The company is very up front in explaining that their logo design service is a “loss leader,” meaning that they do not make a profit from the service, and instead consider it an introduction to their additional design services also offered at the site (see “Other Services” below). Although you pay the $149 fee up front, the 100% money-back guarantee is impressive, with the company’s president, Simon McArdle, claiming that “If my logo design skills do not deliver, I'm the one who eats his shirt, not you.”

The order process at The Logo Company is straightforward, and their plentiful samples demonstrate that they excel in full-color logos with manual illustrations. In addition to the 2500+ testimonials, the site also features dozens of interesting case studies, which include images of the initial designs sent to the client and a detailed timeline and description of the decision-making process that followed. We like the fact that The Logo Company encourages customers who write testimonials to list their name and company, which both gives some assurance that the testimonials are genuine, and also lets you check out some recent logo samples (versus just seeing the ones hand-selected by the company for its portfolio) assuming you’re willing to track down the web site of the company mentioned in the testimonial. Note, however, that a great many testimonials do not in fact have company names. When we checked, there were two or three testimonials posted daily, including two just that day.

The key to receiving great service from this company (as with any logo design firm) is in providing thorough and detailed information about your company and your ideas and preferences when you fill out the “Project Information” section of the order form. Each question on in the section includes an audio file that explains more details about exactly what they’re looking for.
